Tributes to legend at Rafi Nite show

The singers are seen with the organisers and guests RICH tributes were paid to legendary Indian singer Mohamed Rafi at a programme organised by Punjab Musical Group (PMG) in Doha. The highlight of the programme, dubbed ‘Rafi Nite’, was a performance by Amir Rafi, a Lahore-based nephew of the late Rafi. Amir was specially flown in to Qatar for the occasion.
PMG president Shahid Rashid introduced the guest singer to the audience.
Starting with the all-time Rafi hit Bari Door Se Aaiye Hain, Amir Rafi entertained the audience for two hours. Hassan, a local singer, also performed. PMG chief organiser Nazakat Ali Khan (tabla), Raza Husain Guloo (harmonium), Talal (guitar), Qader (drum) and Tanvir Khan (sound controller) supported the singers.
Co-ordinated by Khurram Shehzad Rana, the event was jointly compered by Hasina and Abdul Jabbar. Doha Bank, Air India, Satco International, Tawfeeq Jewellers, Al-Jabor Opticians, Union Exchange and Family Food Centre were the sponsors.
Dharmindar of Al-Tawfeeq Jewellers and his wife were the special guests. – RC
