    My dear friends !
Today is 31st July…an inauspicious day for all the music lovers.
Today, in 1980, we lost our beloved singer Padmashree Mohammad
Rafi Sahab. He was not less than an angel.
Let us remember him on this day and pray for his divine soul !
May God bless his soul eternal peace in the heaven !!!
    Thanks.

we are music lovers first and mohd rafi saaheb is our first choice among the singers.
and for human qualities , this farishta – our role model in real life – outshines not only singers but also many many men and women.
and that’s why ordinary men and women even today love mohd rafi saaheb. i have experienced and seen this – in everyday life.

    Mr. Rizwan Rafi:
Nice to see a note from Rafisahab’s grand son here. You know what, your Dada’s fan-following is increasing day by day, even after 28 years of his departure from this world.

  9. Rizwan Rafi says:

I had the pleasuer of attending all three of the concerts in Birmingham, Manchester and London, they were nights of mixed emotions and a time to reminisce on the memory of my grandfather for me, especily when every one observed a minute’s silence in memory of dada’s 28th death anniversary.
It was great to see so many loving fans all the shows still keeping my dada’s memory alive. The shows were a great collaboration of two cultures and two styles of music.
I am sure fans will be pleased to know the London concert was filmed and will be televised in August on Sony TV.

    Best Wishes to all

    Rizwan Rafi x

    Post 7 & 9….

good observation, now let’s wait for the c.d. to be released. then we all can judge the effects of the sounds. it’s very commendable that c.b.s.o. did a challenging job and rightly took the vocals of rafi saaheb for experimentation.

once we here the released cd’s, we can put up the case of our traditional musical instruments like dholak or tabla. even the cbso and the brits will learn some new techniques and change. anyway, we are the winners – either way since the divine rafi magic is reaching and spreading over many geographical boundaries . some of the songs are as old as forty and fifty years and this calls for real celebration since very few singers can match rafi’s popularity.

I attended the concert on Tues 15th July at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, home to the CBSO and have to say that it was a great treat! The CBSO(City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra) was as usual at its professional best. It was heartening to see Sonu Niigaam paying humble tributes to Rafi saab throughout the show and it was commendable that he sang some of the most difficult of Rafi songs literally one after the other.
Visibly and audibly missing were the tabla and the dholak from the orchestra (which were used in the original concert held in 2006 with local west midlands singers). That did in my opinion affect a song like “jat yamla pagla” quite seriously!

It was nice to see today’s top singer embellishing a legend’s fame and taking it to newer heights.

    Post 4 & 5… thanks…

when i was in dubai a lady always use to write letters to the editor and giving her respects for rafi saaheb on july 31st and also dec.24.

how many of us can do this task – twice a year in our own cities and towns and thereby thank rafi saaheb for the incomparable melodies he has given us to enjoy and live for amidst our busy lives.

most of the editors and journos are themselves rafi lovers and they will only be too happy to print a tribute to rafi from his fans and their readers.

Great news for Rafi-fans across the world. Sonu Nigam is doing tremendous work by reviving the music of Rafi Sahab. There are several theories doing the round as to the number of songs of Rafi Sahab. In this article the author says that 26,000 songs have been rendered by Rafi Sahab. Can an authentic number be informed ?
