Mohammad Rafi, the unmatched singing legend of all times…

Mohd Rafi

Mohammad Rafi’s 86th birthday falls on 24th December 2010. Mohammad Rafi, the very definition of playback singing, for the past, present and future cannot be equaled by any singer but can only be appreciated. His unexplainable singing talent and dexterity is a wonder for any aspiring playback singers. He was not formally trained but sang from his heart, body, mind and soul. Was it good voice, feel, expression, modulating ability, range and a host of such factors which made him the greatest singer of all times? I certainly do not feel so. Beyond all this, he was the greatest human being, kind to fellow musicians and aspiring music directors and singers and supported them and all others selflessly without expecting anything in return. Probably because of this sterling quality as a human being that he radiated, his voice and feel was full of truth which seem to have stood the test of time and the whole world is talking about Rafi Saab, not only on his birth and death days but all the days throughout the year, singing and practicing his soulful melodious songs.

Many, including me, perform on stage and do not, at any time, get tired by singing his renditions again, again and again..! The power of his vocal chord with those niceties of his singing abilities cannot be explained but only felt when we hear or render his songs.

He is the most deserving singing legend for the “Bharat Ratna” and there have been innumerable representations from all corners of India and the world, at large, in this regard.

I sincerely hope that the Indian Government would take a sincere look at this representation and grant this much deserved award to Mohammad Rafi Saab, without any further delay.

  1. ramu sir – though i do not know your personally i would like to call you so.

let me put the whole thing upside down and say the same thing in a befitting way which will actually spell out the govt’s state of mind.

when kanada acting lagend Dr.Raj Kumar was kidnapped and kept in a state of vanaprasta ashram ( eating raw animal flesh for daily hurried meals escaping the eyes of the police ) everyone was shocked. he was dramatically released ( after taking a whopping finanancial consderatrion from the local govt ) which was welcome but shocking as well and you know what the legend raj kumar had to say after his release.:-

” i sympathise with veerappan – he had his own problems – but he was a gentleman ” – a brigand and a gentleman ( officer and a gentleman ).

you see after a while in captivity raj kumar started mentally sympathising with the tormentor.

yes – bhakton – this is the state of the minds of the rafi bhakts of today – we too started finding ways to divert our minds away from Bharat Ratna for rafi sahab by saying – WE START GIVING FILMFARE RAFI AWARD.

the autrhorities, the govt, the film industry do not want to confer the Bharat Ratna on our avataar even after 30 years after he went back crest fallen trying to change the world sround him, they are going to do such blunders of starting an award on his name.

ramu sir – i find you as the only one presently sharing my sentiments on the avataar. a brilliant write up – keep churning.
