Mohammad Rafi, the Singing Magic

Mohammad Rafi, the very definition of Bollywood music, passed away on 31st July 1980. Thirty-three years after his demise, the music lovers, past and even present generation, even today, seems to be not tired of listening to his voice, with his timeless renditions and sheer magic of his versatile voice and timbre. A singer, who sang not merely from his throat, but from his entire body, mind and soul, was certainly one of a kind in bringing out the right emotion, feel and expression, in his renditions.
He sang for heroes and the listener, unmistakably wondered if it was really the hero, who sang. A singer of few words and a true worshiper of “Allah”, never ever had any vices. Always ever smiling and a silent financial support for many fellow musicians, who worship him even today for their success due to Rafi Saab.
Many singers have come and gone. But his voice remains unmatchable, ruling the music world, like an ever shining star in the sky.
May his soul rest in peace and his songs continue to rule the music fraternity, for generations to come.

Oh! What a voice! The only voice whose divine timbre sometimes appear to have surpassed the godess of music Lata mangeshkar, why? only because he is the god of modern male playback singing. You tube has proved in the internet eara that no male voice comes even close to his terrific melody.
Jis Raat Ke Khaab Aaye, Woh Khaabonki Raat Aayi
The song is ‘ jis raat ke khwaab aaye’ sung by Mohammed Rafi on the lyrics of Ali Sardar Jafri.
It seems when Naushad saab called Mohammed Rafi for a rehearsal of a ghazal for ‘Habba Khatoon’, the film which could not be completed. Naushad saab sang a couplet from the ghazal, and saw Rafisaab in tears. When asked reason for the tears, he said that he felt this ghazal very good, and further told him that most of the songs, he sung songs which travel through his throat but does not reach his heart. After some days’ rehearsals, the ghazal was recorded. As soon as the recording was over, a tearful Rafi came and embraced Naushadsaab .
Rafisaab, becoming more and more emotional, told him that he would not accept any fee for the song by saying that money would not have given him as much happiness as he got by singing this song.
