Saturday Night Rafi Fever – Part II ON APRIL 12, AT NAUSHAD HALL, SION KOLIWADA at 6.30 p.m. This information is shared by Mr. Binu Nair, founder, Rafi Foundation.
RAFI FOUNDATION will host a musical evening of Mohd Rafi’s rare and popular numbers live at the Naushad Hall on April 12th. Every second saturday of the month Rafi Foundation host the live musical with eminent people who worked with Mohd Rafi attending the event and singing the maestro’s songs. The guest singers this Saturday includes : M/s.Madhubala Jhaveri (playback singer), Padmakar Shivalkar (leg-spinner and singer) Dr. Hebbar, Javed shakeel badayuni, ACP Syed Mobin, Kakaji Naushad, Sheel Kumar Sharma, Pallavi & Raghav.
A unique feature of the evening will be that of female singers from the Rafi Foundation singing immortal Rafi numbers like : Tere mere sapne ab ek rang hai; Akele hai, Chale Aaaoo, Chaudvin Kaa Chaand Ho, Tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge besides other rafi gems.
Assistant commissioner of Police Mr. Syed Mobin will give a flute recital of Mohd Rafi songs and also will croon numbers like Donon ne kiya pyaar magar from Mahua, Suhaani raat dhal chuki, and Padmakar Shivalkar the lovable leg-spinner will sing the Rafi immortal: Oh duniya ke Rakhwale & Mana tadapat hari darshan from Baiju Bawra.

Rafi Foundation honours the music personalities of yesteryears and provides medical support to needy persons from the music fraternity. It holds lives musical evenings and listening sessions in Sion on second saturdays and on alternate Sundays a t Borivli , they hold music gatherings. Saturday night “rafi” fever – musical will be held on 10th May and rafi lovers are all invited at 6.30 p.m. Naushad Hall – sion koliwada. many prominent rafi lovers will be attending.
“aasman se aaya farishta” – a musical tribute programme is to be held on may 18th at gcc club in mira road at 6.30 p.m. and its free for rafi lovers.

pranam , namaste… points noted. we will definitely move to a bigger auditorium in matunga soon as soon as membership/funds and sponsorships materialises. this is a slow beginning and now we are in the second gear hoping to shift to top gears – very soon.
but, once in a month, three hours u will get the best of rafi saaheb songs, I promise.

I was very pleased to atend the programe on rafi songs. i enjoyed it very much .on 12 th april at sion. hope to attend some more in futere. some more space is needed and more organisd .great efort was taken by kakaji naushad.

I am aware of many families getting the basic needs of life by
singing in trains.
last week a lad aged 14 and his sis aged `12 sang six rafi ji songs
in a fast local from Borivli to bandra. the lad had a harmonium
and the girl had a tabla with gungroos tied to her hands for the
rhythem. People gathered around and paid them handsome amount.
In my area itself there are 20 restaurants where there is live music
played. just make a small calculation as to how many restaurants
are there in which singers sing rafi ji songs – around the world
and make a living.
rafi ji is a “gandharva” singer now , he sings for the gods says :
padmakar shivalkar, one of indias greatest leg spin bower, singer
and rafi lover.
time , tide and rafi magic will never stop….

Really a great and adorable work is being done by the Rafian’s to keep the memory alive. Rafisaheb when alive use to personally help so many needy people of the music fratenity and still he is able to help some needy people even 27yrs after his death. i personally known many people who still survive and earn their livelyhood by singing his immortal songs.Really rafisaheb was a blessed soul and only a good humanbeing can possess this quality really a farishta. my father had a great fortune that he meet this great human being though i was also present but fast asleep as i was only 3 yrs old at that time. i missed any further meeting with him as he left for heavenly abode only 10 days after our meeting. May his soul rest in peace
