Mohd Rafi - A Voice of the Millennium. A Voice behind the million faces and the voice of the millennium, Mohd Rafi. Rafi Sahab's versatility with songs for different heroes and actors was a well known fact. What is natural  and never realized is the fact that whenever we hear any song of Rafi Saab, we can easily identify the hero on whom it is picturized.

Here are some of the best of best from Rafi Saab for the various heroes of our film land starting out with Bharat Bhushan to Govinda. We have tried to bring you small clippings of some of the best rendered by Rafi Saab to commemorate his 76th birthday on December 24, 2000 which is also the Christmas eve.

O Duniya Ke Rakhwale on Bharat Bhushan is finest of all that Rafi saab had sung. The song has been said to have taken many attempts before the final audition was ready. The song is from the movie Baiju Bawra released in 1952, composed by Naushad and lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni based on the Raag Darbari Kanada.

O DUNIYA KE RAKHWALE  video follows

The evergreen hero Dev Anand in Hum Dono released in 1961. The music is by Jaidev and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi


Pradeep Kumar - Rafi saab's Man Re Tu Kaahe Na Dheer Dhare from the movie Chitralekha with music by Roshan and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. The movie was released in 1964.


Guzaren Hai Aaj Ishq Mein - from the movie Dil Diya Dard Liya released in 1966 featured on the renowned Tragedy King Dilip Kumar - was composed by Naushad and lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni.


Aap Ke Pehloo Mein Aakar - featured on Sunil Dutt from the movie Mera Saaya in the year 1966 was composed by Madan Mohan and the lyrics were by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan.

Under Ravi music the song Raha Gardishon Mein from the movie Do Badan 1966 was featured on Manoj Kumar - Mr. Bharat! The lyrics are by Shakeel Badayuni


The rare number from Aman 'Aaj Ki Raat' featured on Rajendra Kumar. You can hear Saira Banu giving Rafi saab the company in the song with a few words in the middle of song. The movie was released in 1967, and had a backdrop of the world war. The music was scored by Shankar Jaikishan again and lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri again.

Huyi Shaam Unka Khayaal Aagaya - the song from Mere Hamdam Mere Dost released in the year 1968 featured on Dharmendra. The music was by Laxmikant Pyarelal and Lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri


Mere zindagi mein aate from the movie Kanyadaan was featured on the young handsome Shashi Kapoor in the year 1968. The pair Shankar- Jaikishan have scored the music, with lyrics from Hasrat Jaipuri.
