If one were to prepare a list of 10
people without whom the Hindi film industry simply
could not have existed, Mohammed Rafi's is one of the
first names to come to mind. His voice was the
backbone of music directors and the soul of the actors
who were lucky to have him as playback.
We love other singers but there is
no one quite like him. Simply no one, not in the past
and maybe never in the future. After God gave him his
voice, he must have broken the mold.
