Tere aane ki aas hai dost, sham phir kyon udas hai dost, mehki-mehki fiza yeh keh rahi hai, tu kahin aas paas hai dost. Mohammad Rafi immortalised himself by singing a number of songs which still enliven our hearts.
To pay tributes to the great singer, Rafi Memorial Nite was organised by the Rafi Memorial Society at Tagore Theatre today.
The charming and elegant Mala Sinha was the chief guest for the evening. Dr D.C Gupta, along with Dr Vineeta Gupta and Pratap Singh Bajwa, were the guest of honour and escorted her to light the lamp.
The jampacked auditorium, which was filled with Rafi fans, gave a warm welcome to Mala Sinha. The programme began with a devotional song Alla tero naam, ishwar tero naam by Rajinder Kalra and the other singers joined in.
While Raveesh Goyal sang the popular number by Rafi, Tu Hindu Banega Na Musalmaan Banega, Rinku Kalia sang Hai Isi Mein Pyaar Ki Aabro. Varun Malik rendered an evergreen number by Mohammd Rafi Rukh Se Zara Nakaab Hata Do Mere Hazoor.

i am from maldives. and sometimes i really feel jealous of indians for being the natives of the nation where mohd rafi sahab belongs….u guys dont know how lukcy u are…..rafi sahab was , and will always be the greateset singer of all time, and he happens to an indian…isnt that enough for u indians to be proud?

I was nine-year-old. I always had this habit of getting up early and pick up the morning newspaper. Rafi sahab is no more — I read the headlines on the front page. At that precocious age, I could make out the great loss the music listeners suffered after his untimely death. I was young, yet I felt the loss. Even today, I cannot live without his soulful voice. His voice always reflect the simplicity about his persona, I strongly believe that. As a youngster, I always had this desire — one day when I grow up, I will travel to Bombay and meet Rafi sahab!! Sadly, he is not there. But his voice is. We miss you Rafi sahab.

The most beautiful and the most perfect voice on earth
the glorious era of not just indian cinema but of indian music
his voice is still wid us .. as he himself said “tum mujhe yun bhula na paoge ”
so no need to say i miss.. infact we all miss him and will keep missing him. he said
” waqt mere geetonka khazaana dhoondhega ” but this khazaana is so well enriched with many priceless gems. A true legend of indian film music
but still feel that many of his gud work needs to be made popular among the youth so that they can understand wat they are missing ..
for my self all i can say” jab bhi ye dil udas hota hai jaane kaun as pas hota hai” aur hoti hai ek hi awaz .. the great Md Rafi.

rafi was god’s gift to humanity. there was no other singer like rafi and there
will be no other like rafi. we are fortunate to live in the same era as rafi. now
the angels are enjoying his music as much as we do.

rafi saab was an all time great singer. there can’t be another rafi. he had golden voice which reverberated all around the world. i am a great fan of rafi saab. wish government gives him bharat ratna posthumously.
