Second Edition of the Biography of Mohammad Rafi “Meri Awaz Suno” has been published

This information is shared by Mr. Vinod Viplav.

Second Edition of the Biography of Mohammad Rafi - Meri Awaz Suno has been publishedAfter getting overwhelming response and appreciation, the first biography of great music legend Mohammad Rafi “Meri Awaz Suno” has come out with new look and more attractive features. The new edition of the book has more information, more pages and more photographs of Rafi Saheb.

As it was told in an earlier post in www.mohdrafi.com that the responses of the Rafi fans on the first edition of the book was unbelievable that has encouraged me to bring out the second edition of the book with additions. Being a writer and a diehard Rafi fan, I know that the appreciation which I got for the book is not due to my writing and my work, but because of the magic of the person who left us more than 27 years ago but his songs are still enthralling and delighting us. All I can only say that Mohd. Rafi is matchless and there would not be second Rafi in this universe. For Rafi fans like us, whose number may be millions, Mohammad Rafi is the one and only, source of inspiration and his songs are like Oxygen, in absence of which survival is impossible. We all Rafi fans not only want to listen his melodious voice but also want to know about each and every aspects of his life.

In arabic language there is no letter P. hence the arabs use
    the word b for p.

there are lots of jokes about this but forget it since we are not
in an english language class but on a site of a legendary singer
whom we all love as our “guruji”.

just like one takes a short cut to reach a venue some writers
may use saab for saheb……..NOTHING MORE THAN THIS.

can we not spend this time listening to rafi saab songs or
    propagating it?……

    BINU NAIR… MUMBAI……..

    Hussein Sheikh Says:

    Should be “Saheb”

    Imtiyaz A. Sharif Says:

Dear Mr. Binu & Mr. Aseer

I fully agreed that true devotion may not be possible to express in WORDS, but some words can be spelled correctly in other language, e.g.:

    1) You can write word ﺏﺎﺭﺸ same as urdu “Sharaab”. There is no difficulty to write and pronounce as well. If somebody write Sharb or Shaarab instead of “Sharaab”, it will not be correct.

    2) You can write word ﻡﺴﺑﺗ same as urdu “Tabassum”. There is no difficulty to write and pronounce as well. If somebody write Tabsum or Tubsam instead of “Tabassum”, it will not be correct.

Some words cannot be written as per the correct pronunciation of urdu, e.g.:

    1) You can’t write word غور correctly as per urdu pronunciation. If you write Ghour, it will become گھور.

    2) You can’t write word گﺴﺗﺎﺧﻲ exactly as per the pronunciation in urdu. If you want to write this word in English, you may write “Gustakhi” (ﻱﻬﻛﺎﺗﺴﮜ). So, here we have some limitations and it can be accepted. But when you have no problem to spell correctly, how can you say “Chalta Hai”??????.

In this case, you are encouraging to write ﺏﺎﺼ (Saab) instead of ﺏﺣﺎﺼ (Sahab).
And I don’t know why you are not able to digest the word SAHAB. What harm???
Aseer Sahab, bajaye urdu ka meyaar giraane kay aap apna urda ka meyaar badhayeinge to faida hoga.

  4. 47
    Imtiyaz A. Sharif Says:

    Dear Aseer Sahab,

Did you tell me how the word sahab spelled in URDU? “Swad+Alf+Ha+Ba”? Am I right? or Swad+Alf+Ba? which is correct? If you say first one with “Ha” then you must write “Sahab” and not saab. BTW, what harm if you add “h” to sound correctly? Its looking very odd “Saab”with the name of the greatest Rafi Sahab. Aseer sahab, I must say you that there is no intention to give dictation to anybody, it’s matter of correction only. Atleast you should not oppose since you have sound knowledge in urdu grammer and a diehard fan of Rafi Sahab.

    binus2000 Says:

    aseer ji :

    pst 45 ::::

yes, true devotion may not be possible to be translated in to
    the right meaning or words.
in this respect “saab” is only a translation… the point which aseer
has stated is “more” pertinent. why someone wants to dictate to
    lovers.

saab is used as a respect. the world is changing fast. the
language and it’s usage is changing too and hence the oxford
dictionary issues each year the latest words and it meanings.

in journalism when one writes about people, their name is used
and saab or saheb is “never” used . a journo will say for example
manmohan singh and not manmohansingh saab .
people wanting to tell others or dictate others should do their
    “homework” first it ’s felt.

the love for the greatest singer and the spreading of the immortal
voice is paramount than being advisors , i feel.

    binu nair…….

    Aseer Says:

@ Imtiyaz bhai, ref post 42
ues gramatically iu r correct that there is no word called saab in urdu. with my limited urdu knowledge I wud like to point that the Janab is closer in meaning to the word Mister of english than Sahab really is. And in proper noun there shouldnt be much objection.
Anyway, I again fail to understand, why people here try to dictate lover’s
actions. Love in any form in Godly and we should only and only respect love in each of its forms. In case you know, even Hazrat Musa AS(Moses, as we also know him) was scolded by Allah when he scolded a deewana of Allah as te deewana who was a cobbler by profession was offering Allah some trivial earthly matters. And Allah said, never try to dictate a lover’s devotion. I know what you(Musa) dont know. Hazrat Musa AS immediately apologized.

it really doesnt matter whether we say Rafi saab or Rafi sahab or something different(like my mother who prefers to call him Mama). The only thing matters here is our devotion which I dont think can be typed and by no means, judged

    Vinod ji…

we have spoken on the phone. u had called and we had a chat.
now please do not grumble about our work as the rafi lovers
are not interested in taking “certificates” for our work. our work
give us tremendous amount of joy.

the rafi foundation is registered in mumbai. we were going “slow”
for the welcome reason that we needed honest and dedicated
people with us not self seekers and arm chair politicians or
    critics.

for any thing related to the rafi foundation u may write to me
    directly at binus2000@hotmail.com

    binu nair… mumbai.

    Sanjay Says:

ref 41: i also spell it “sahab”. but remember that really there is no correct spelling for transliterated English - Hindi. The only correct spelling is with original Hindi / Urdu characters - which unfortunately to my regret are being replaced by English. Sun-J, Sanjai, Sanjay - it doesn’t really matter. I found it amusing so I commented :)

Mr. Binu Nair and Mr. Zorawar Chugani
    (in response to post no - 36, 38 & 39)

I want to clarify that during World Book Fair, Memership Forms of Rafi Foundation and introductory information about the Foundation were kept at s1/16 in Hall No- 12A as said in my post no - 33. Only Membership Forms were given to Rafi Fans. Those who will be interested in joining Rafi Foundation, will contact only Mr. Jorawar Chugani, and not any other person.
No Membership Fee can be collected presently because neither Rafi Foundation has been Registered nither there is any Bank Account of Rafi Foundation, as per my knowledge.
I have requested to office bearers of Rafi Foundation many times that at least two primary work should be done immediatly.
    1. Registration of the Delhi Chapter or other chapter of Rafi Foundation.
    2. Open a bank account of Rafi Foundation.

But it is sad that no progress has been made in this direction.
Some Office bearers (including Mr. Nair and Mr. Zorawar) instead of talking directly or by Phone or by email or doing any creative work, are more interested in making baised comments and baseless allegesions against each other on the website. I am afraid that this tendency will hamper the unity and the work of Rafi Foundation.

  10. 41
    Imtiyaz A. Sharif Says:

Small correction in the spelling of word “Sahab”. Most of the people used to write “Rafi Saab” instead of “Rafi Sahab”. “The meaning of “Sahab” in urdu is like Mr. or Respected etc. and there is no word “Saab” in Urdu. So, kindly take note for future. Thanks.

    vinod ji:
zorawar and the rafi foundation (delhi chapter) is trying to build
a dedicated team of rafi lovers in new delhi. we are just six
    months old.
my suggestion to you is : please work as a team and enrol rafi
lovers, all year round. we are all “accountable” , responsible
    and dedicated rafi lovers.

remember that rafi saab was a “namazi” , a true icon appointed and
sent by the gods alone - to sing in gods own voice.
rafi saab disliked commerce and self-glory…. hence please
keep mr.zorawar posted of all events of the delhi chapter as we
are in the process of building a great team after many years.

lets all work in its true spirit which rafi saab will love and admire
    is my simple plea.

    Zorawar Says:

    Dear Pradeep Ji,
I am thankful to you not to have published my post which was full of anger because of some people. But now I am at peace.
Since you are doing this great job of making Rafi Sahab fans meet on this site, may I request you to ask Mr. Vinod Viplav not to publicise the membership of Rafi Foundation as this foundation consists of several other members and no other member has been informed about the membership forms and any money to be collected there from. This is a sacred foundation wherein people come and join with references and contribute as per their will.
May I again request your goodself to kindly disallow these advertisements on your site ? Let the information be carried about the events happening or release of a book or a magazine in Rafi Sahab name.
I hope I am approaching you for a genuine concern.
    Long Live Rafi Sahab !

    binus2000 Says:

    pradip ji.

further to my post no. 31, i wish to state herein that this
site with its contributors/readers and the millions of rafi lovers -
all over are doing a great service to the “memory of rafi saab”.

it’s only natural that rafi lovers say that rafi love in its various forms
and actions is “puja” for all of us.

    hence……………..,

i suggest please keep a track of the addresses of writers registering
with this website with their phone numbers too as i have found two
occassions wherein two individuals have used proxy names
to write their views which otherwise they cannot state, due to reasons
    best known to them.

this is a sure shot dis-honest act i feel.

the second suggestion is that harsh and intemperate language and
” personal attack “on rafi lovers be censored at your end itself as it
    can avoid controversies.

one can “disagree” with another view point very “politely” too. more,
the rafi lovers are spending their time, money and intelligence to spread
the “joy” of rafi saabs songs and personality.

even if one cannot appreciate these “honourable deeds” my plea is
please do not “run down” a rafi lover. a true rafi lover is very gentle and
has a big heart like - rafi saab himself .

as few rafi lovers rightly said ” this site is a mandir ” which
nobody will dispute. we all have to keep the sanctity of this great
    mandir.

rafi lovers may write to us for details of “the rafi foundation” and
” sargam ” magazine the second issue which will be issued in march .

the sargam magazine apart from pictures and articles about
our legend rafi saab is a magazine which will write about “rafi lovers
    of this world”.

so do send in a write-up of yourself with your picture
and in your own words ur love for rafi saab , which we will take up
    for publication.
    please write to :

    Pradip ji …

u have done the “right thing” little late as some rank outsiders
with new names and sinister purpose had managed to get into
this thread and write “outrages and blasphemous” things about me
and the rafi foundation which the rafi foundation strongly condemn.

the rafi foundation is an umbrella for rafi lovers of the world and
it’s born due to the love for rafi saab.
my team members and myself spend our time, money, skills to
spread the works of rafi saab as it gives us tremendous joy….

more, these unknown writers have no first hand info about our body
and it was clear when i was termed as the national president of the
    foundation.

let me make it very clear that……………….
we do not have a national president as we are not a political party
to distribute posts and take advantage of it. we are on our guard
against malpractices happening in the name of rafi saab.

i am only a small time founder of the rafi foundation and we have
our team of advisers like mr.narayan from bangalore, mr.ahmed bhai
    - rafi saab friend and true rafi lovers who are supporting us in
various capacities as per their capabilities and capacities.
rafi saabs friend and companion mr.vijay nafed has recently joined
our team of advisers too. I am proud to state that in a very short time
the rafi foundation has attracted sea of rafi lovers who are spreading
the “joys of rafi songs” at many places as true rafi saab soldiers and
    commanders.

i hope you will be watchful about “malicious and untruth” reporting of
our organisation in the website in future.

true rafi lovers can write to me directly on any info about the rafi
foundation and i am duty bound to reply to these. our future
programmes include a singing competition and listening sessions
    of rafi saab songs.
