Second Edition of the Biography of Mohammad Rafi “Meri Awaz Suno” has been published
This information is shared by Mr. Vinod Viplav.
After getting overwhelming response and appreciation, the first biography of great music legend Mohammad Rafi “Meri Awaz Suno” has come out with new look and more attractive features. The new edition of the book has more information, more pages and more photographs of Rafi Saheb.
As it was told in an earlier post in www.mohdrafi.com that the responses of the Rafi fans on the first edition of the book was unbelievable that has encouraged me to bring out the second edition of the book with additions. Being a writer and a diehard Rafi fan, I know that the appreciation which I got for the book is not due to my writing and my work, but because of the magic of the person who left us more than 27 years ago but his songs are still enthralling and delighting us. All I can only say that Mohd. Rafi is matchless and there would not be second Rafi in this universe. For Rafi fans like us, whose number may be millions, Mohammad Rafi is the one and only, source of inspiration and his songs are like Oxygen, in absence of which survival is impossible. We all Rafi fans not only want to listen his melodious voice but also want to know about each and every aspects of his life.

Dear Aseer SAAHAB (OK, ab to aap khush hain?)
Baat jab urdu ki chali hai to phir mukhatibat bhi urdu mein hi honi chahiye.
Main yeh bilkul nahin soncha tha kay ek chhotay se lafz kay liye baat itni tool pakadlegi. Lagta hai aap dil par hi le liye.
1) Aap baat ko kaafi uljha rahe hain. Yahan pronounciation ki bahes nahin horahi hai, ek chhotay se lafz ko kis tarah sahi taur par doosri zubaan mein likha jasakta hai ya likhna chahiye dekha jaraha hai, naakay Bengali/Marathi accent ki baat horahi hai. Aadmi ka accent jaisa bhi ho, par likhte waqt woh bahut mohtaat rahta hai aur usi tarah nahin likhta jaisa uska accent hai. Spelling aur grammar ka mukammal lihaaz rakha jaata hai. Agar aap kisi padhay likhay Hyderabadi shaqs ki urdu ki likhai dekhenge to pata chalega kay woh kis tarah fasih urdu likhta hai, aur wahi jab baat karta hai to us se kis qadar muqtalif hoti hai. Beshak ek Bengali Rafi ko Rofi kahta ho par jab usko likhna hoga to sir RAFI hi lkhna hoga. ROFI nahin likh sakta.
2) Meri samajh mein nahin aaraha hai kay aap Rafi sahab, saahab or saheb (but not saab) kay gaanon ka maza kis tarah lete hain. Aap to urdu ko itni disturbing language samjhte hain jabke taqreeban gaane bilkul fasih urdu mein hotay hain. Strange.
3) Kya aap us sahab lafz ki spelling bata sakte hain (urdu mein) jis ka matlab cloud hota hai? Mere liye yeh naya lafz hai. Agar aap isi ﺏﺣﺎﺼ lafz kay maanay cloud kay nikalte hain kahrahe hain to please mujhe us dictionary ka naam bataiye. Main aap ka ihsaan mand rahoonga.
Waise aap jo “saahab“ likhe hain yeh ziyada close hai banisbat doosre spellings kay. (Pahle to single ‘a’ kay addition par eitraaz horaha tha aur ab double ‘aa’ ko recommend kar rahe hain, good).
4) Ab raha sawaal urdu kay gender ka:
“bajaye urdu ka meyaar giraane kay aap APNA, urda ka meyaar badhayeinge to faida hoga“. Is jumlay (sentence) mein urdu ki nahin balkay aap kay gender ki baat horahi hai aur mere khayaal se maine sahi gender likha hai.
Baherhaal Aseer Sir, mera koi intention (irada) aap ko ya kisi ko dictate karna ya apni kisi baat ko manwana bilkul nahin hai. Binu saahab kay mashware kay mutabiq hum log is baat ko bhool kar yahi waqt Rafi Saahab kay gaanon ka maza lene mein lagaatay hain aur is topic ko yahin khatam karte hain.
LONG LIVE RAFI SAAHAB
LONG LIVE RAFIANS

Post 52…..
There is no word “urda” in post 48.
I apologize for typo. error in post 49.
February 13th, 2008 at 8:54 am
ref post 52 : since it’s clarified that ’saheb’ means clouds i will prefer
to use rafi ji or rafi saab …
some of the advisers who don the “role” of advisors may check
the meanings of words in the dictionaries before spilling their
intellect on others.
now , i am reminded of the song : saala mai to saab ban gaya from
dilip kumars sagina..
saab is only an innocent translation and in mumbai its used to
address the “boss”.
rafi saab is the boss and advisers please take note or else invent
a suitable, correct address to the boss : mohd rafi saab.

sir, can i ge this book in Urdu as i am in Pakistan and can not read Hindi. please let me know if you have any Urdu or English version of the book. Peasze please please

@ Imtiyaz bhai ref post 48 and 49
yes indeed sahab is spelled as swad alif he be. no doubt. but i dont think that is of great importance. it really matters much much less whether we call him Rafi saahab or Rafi saab or Rafi sir or even pronounce his name wrongly as Rofi, as per bengali standard. are u suggesting urdu speaking persons are more respectful by pronouncing his name correctly and his bengali followers are of second class as according to their native accent they pronounce it like Rofi? I simply dont understand.
coming to ur points in post 49,
the examples given by u is indeed favoring stance but when coming to pronounciation Urdu is the most disturbing language as while writing short vowels are skipped(which are to be guessed while reading) and long vowels are kept. tell me is it muhabbat or mohabbat? tilaaq or talaaq? U might point out one as u speak that version but i can point out persons who will most obstinately oppose ur pronunciation. But this discussion is not my motto here so i ll skip this. i dont know why u dragged this here.
about gustakhi(sorry i dont use urdu fonts) yes its not possible to type in english the deep throated kh or deep throated ga as in gham. but u understand it and I with my dimmed brain also do. so carry on.
I am very sorry if my post here gave u the impression of me encouraging saab instead of saahab. i merely posted that it really matters less, much less than some of the other issues raised here.
but yes I ll say chalta hai(altough i didnt use this phrase, Allah knows why u put it within a pair of inverted commas) as per my belief its ok.
now two points personally to u sir.
1. “sahab” as u prefer, write urself and asking others to adopt is not the word Mister or even similar. “sahab” means cloud in urdu. and altho I understand why people r using saab here I fail to understand why u call our beloved Rafi sahab as “Rafi the cloud”.!!!!! oh yes, there is a word called “saahab” in urdu which is often used to pay respect. BTW, what harm if you add “a” to sound correctly? Its looking very odd “Sahab”with the name of the greatest Rafi Saahab.
2. “Aseer Sahab”– plz dont call me cloud. I personally dont like it. in case u cant write “saahab” just forget adding anything with my name.
3.” bajaye urdu ka meyaar giraane kay aap apna urda ka meyaar badhayeinge to faida hoga.”– I think urdu itself is feminine word. so it shud be “apni urdu” and not “apna urdu”. so my earnest request to u “imtiyaz saahab, bajaye urdu ka meyaar giraane kay aap APNI urda ka meyaar badhayeinge to faida hoga.”
while writing this post i cant suppress my smile, being a bengali, born and brought up in a remote village of bengal, never learning urdu academically and yet here I am rectifying some silly mistakes committed by some rescuer of Urdu. lol sir. Here some idiotic bengali or south indian or marathi etc etc are trying to degrade urdu but plz u be an exaample and an exception plz. its my earnest request.
highest regards
Aseer
