Rafi’s day…

Rafi's day...

Who can ever forget 31st July? If a human soul loves eternal music, with melody filled environment in every day’s life, it has to be overflowing with the golden voice of only one person, be it in the 1950’s or even these modern times where music has taken a round about turn with practically no importance given to the vocal chord.

K.S.RamachandranThe power of the vocal chord was ably demonstrated by none other than our beloved Guru, Baadshah, Lord of the musical universe, gifted soul and the one and only Rafi Sahab. Whatever we say from the deepest of our hearts, it is always less and less as we speak about his greatness and his contributions to the film musical world. Even after 28 years after his demise “OUR DIL MAANGHTA HAI MORE”….

The power of his contributions is seen even today when there are singers trying to sing like the legend and making a living out of them. It is so heartening to note that Rafi’s songs are bread-winner to many of his fans today. Rafi Sahab has not only been a great singer but also an equally great human being during his lifetime, all along these days and for years to come ensuring livelihood to many of his fans, who perform on stage and earn their living.

The effortless ease of singing, perfect modulation and throw of voice, with right blend of emotions and expressions naturally, makes him even today a matchless singer. So original with so much natural flow and delivery. Obviously cannot be taught in any school or institution. Has to come naturally anyway. Like the flow of a river. Sometimes one wonders if he greases his vocal chord with butter! So smooth in delivery and so complete.. Above all, no effort seen in his voice, when one sees him singing, be it the highest of the highest octaves or lowest of the lowest notes, all almost at the same time!

With programs across the country and abroad, remembering this great legend, on this unfortunate day, I kneel before the almighty to give me only one boon in my remaining life time –

Dushman ko bhii naa aisii sazaa pyaar kii mile
Unako khudaa mile hai khudaa kii jinhe talaash
Mujhako bas ik jhalak mere RAFI SAHAB kii mile

Rafi Sahab aap bahut yaad aate ho..!!

Shyar ki tahrir yaad aati hai – Hum jis par mar rahe hain, wo cheez hai kuch aur, aalam me tujhse laakh sahi, tu magar kahan…

Sabke liye, sabki khatir, aisa fankaar, aisa insaan badi mushkil se hota hai chaman me didawar paida. Aawaz ka maalik to barson pahle kooch kar gaya, aawaz nahi marti, hunar nahi marta, yaad taaza hai aur taa-zindagi rahegi. Hubab k manind kai ubhre aur be-wazood ho gaya magar RAFI SAHAB aaj bhi hamare dilon me zinda hai aur jabtak saans hain tabtak rahege…!!!

    Rafi sahab we miss you.

    Dear Rafians,

Yes,I vehemently agree with Mr. K.S.Ramachandran,for he has rightly asserted.

Today it’s 28 years since Mohd Rafi Sahab departed from this world and left music lovers across the globe bereaved and orphaned amidst the present day cacophonous bewilderment. The vacuum created shall never be filled, music lovers are dying for pleasing, euphonic music to satisfy the voracious need of the soul. The vintage melody that nourished our soul has vanished. The exotic blend has inflicted catastrophic damage and played havoc to Hindi film music melody. In this gloomy scenario the peerless star glows with its fullest brilliance in this darkness of plagued ambience.Mohd Rafi Sahab’s mellifluous vocals transcend like a glorious rising tide of content to charm music lovers worldwide..Those who possess cognizance of his charismatic melodies are fortunate,as they come to our rescue.

Mohd Rafi Sahab will live forever because of the rich unprecedented, heritage of songs that he has idealized for the music lovers. No singer to date has captured and cherished the hearts of fans where in his charismatic melodies are enshrined.Mohd Rafi Sahab immortalised himself by his symbolic treasure of unforgettable melodies;their adorable echoes still reverberate as to enliven and vitalize our hearts and minds.

Mohd Rafi Sahab was an icon,an inborn genius,a marvel of nature who appears only once in millenia.Mohd Rafi Sahab touched the zenith of fame and popularity no other singer has ever achieved from times immemorial. Mohd Rafi Sahab adhered to an angelic and flawless reputation in the Hindi film industry,Bollywood. His mystical voice continues to enchant all the music lovers and shall charm and haunt them in their lives Ad infinitum.

Let us silence and pause for a few minutes and pray to Almighty God to bless his soul ,to lay in peace.AMEEN.

  17. Imtiaz says:

What can one say about the extraordinary Mohammed Rafi saab? What we say will always be less. His songs are beyond anybody’s reach to sing and his personality is unmatched.

All I request to all Mohammed Rafi saab’s fans is that please tell your children, brothers and sisters etc about what is so special or sad about todays date. When people say that modern day music and singers are not worth listening to at all, its simply because the indian music industry lost its diamond on July 31st 1980 and that is Mohammed Rafi saab.

    long live Mohammed Rafi saab

  18. abdul says:

The one quality which enhances Rafi sahab’s greatness lies in his ever smiling face which brings cheers to common man’s heart. Indeed a God gifted personality !

  19. Gagan says:

    Dear All,

Today is indeed an inauspicious day for all Rafians like me. Today the greatest singer of all times left for his heavenly abode. It was really cruel of God to take him away at such an early age, but as they say those who are truly loved by God and are his angels even he needs them and may his soul rest in peace. He was truly an angel with an angel-like voice.

He will be remembered for time immemorial in all our hearts such is the power of his voice. I am crying as I am writing this and whenever I listen to his songs I have tears in my eyes. Sometimes because of that I am unable to listen to his songs because then I can’t hide my emotions and end up crying. Nobody’s voice has touched me more than the great Rafi Sahab even though I was only 4 years old when he passed away and even at that time on radio when I used to hear his songs it had a profound effect on me and at that time even without knowing that it was this great legend’s voice and I used to imagine all the different heroes names thinking they were singing on whose his songs were picturised, even this defines his greatness that he could sing in all the leading men’s voices. Word are simply not enough to describe my feelings towards him.

He was one of a kind, he was simply to put in one word – “The incomparable”. The dedication with which he pursued his art is a lesson to singers today who have become like machines with the aid of technology. The tehraav, the soz, the diction, the command which he had over his voice is unparalleled and will remain so because there was only one Mohd. Rafi – the Greatest.

I wish to appeal to all Rafians through this letter to urge the Indian Government to confer Bharat Ratna on him as none is more deserving than the great soul Rafi Saahab.

    With profound grief,
    Gagan

As if it is yesterday ,on early morning on August 1 1980 i heard the news of demise of great mohammad rafi on All india radio. That day i did not go to my college, whole day we listened the radio and tv and heard the tributes and songs. I still remember the next day news papers carried the news of his funeral and heavy rains in mumbai. One newspaper said as if sky was weeping. After 3 decades Rafi is as popular as he was in his own time, many tried to clon him but his voice remains eternal.Every body will bear witness with me that present day songs fade away from memory as the present time.

    Dear Rafians,

Yes, It is the cause of grievances for all of Rafians that Rafi sb is no more with us but he is still alive in our hearts. The reason of his popularity and immortality is not only his songs but his always smiling personality. Rafi Sb was God gifted singer and his voice is unmatchable. No doubt his space can not be filled and no one can touch his immortality. He is the real emperor of the world of music. May God bless his soul……..

    My Dear Fellow Rafians,

31st July, is a cruel reminder of the fact that our Maestro, the man who was incomparable both as a singer and as a man, left us for his heavenly abode. This realization makes all of us feel sad, but at the same time, when we think that his golden voice is still with us in almost every moment of our lives, brings tears of happiness into our eyes. Not only this day, but all through out the year, Rafi Sahab’s immortal presence has given us immense joy, and happiness.

I sincerely wish and pray to the Almighty that this “angel of a man” finds peace and calm in heaven and continues to shower his love and blessings in the form of his beautiful songs to not only us, but the future generations!

“Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paaoge
Jab Kabhi Bhi Sunoge Geet Mere
    Sang Sang Tum bhi Gungunaoge”

Long Live Our Beloved Rafi Sahab!

Today is 31st of July, 2008, it’s 28th death anniversary of melody monarch, Mohammed Rafi (Saheb). Unbelievable that the legend is no more with us physically, but he is alive in billions and billions of his fans’ hearts. Not a single day pass without hearing Rafi Saheb’s songs, be day or night. It’s just impossible to believe that he’s gone, his songs are still fresh as ever. It’s a fact that, no one can replace Rafi Saheb. May God rest his soul in peace, Ameen. melodiousrafi@yahoo.com
