Are you guys talking about the same KK who sang Pal?
    I really love his voice.

  9. I am lover of Music and specially Mohd Rafi Sahib, & Asha Ji. To me, no body will ever match quality of their voice, style, emotions ….. etc.

I keep searching for more & more of their numbers and one place in Delhi Meena Bazar is Shah Music Centre. Often I have to compromise on qulity of the recording. Can anyone guide me to a place where I can get the Orignal song recorings. That is is it possible to visit Archives of the films and do they have the provision of providing Orignal recordings.

My next request is Asha ji song scored for Mitti Mein Sona – Punchho na hamein. But it has only one stanza. Many years back I just got the chance to listen the 2nd stanza on radio. tried very hard but could get it even at Shah Music Centre. Can enyone help please.

Many singers have been compared to great rafi sahib but please don’t forget
you do not compare yourself or anybody else as a matter of fact to God.
as far as i’m concerned he is and will always remain the god of hindi songs.
you only have to listen to his songs no matter how old they still jump at you with the same feelings and emotions . How many songs can do the same these days. All rafi sahib songs are still as alive today as they were the day they were recorded and long may they continue.Thank you god for giving us
this great treasure which shall all cherish in our hearts for ever.

    best wishes and regards

  11. Anyone’s admiration should not be taken to show low to others. So there should not be any comparision between legends. They were and will be revered for their work and calibre which they delivered. We should quit the habit of criticising others and admiring personal likes. However, this is forgotten series. I wrote just because only today itself i could find this site. I am a Shanker Jaikishen fan and i breathe S-J. Regarding Hashim Bhai and Ruhi ji’s organisation it could be said that they are doing a job, word fails to admire them. CARRY ON……..we just think the events but you materialise them. Music is above all.

Remembering the immortal and gifted singer on his 84th birth anniversary. A true fan of the great rafi I grew listening to his melodies. His light romantic songs sung for Rajendra Kumar and Shammi Kapur are a delight. Infact I always rejoice when I see his singing personally on stage. I had an ambition to watch rafi performing live on stage, but, alas it cannot be fulfiled. Rafi passed away at a young age. I suggest that the Govt. of India should postumoustly present Bharat Ratna to Late Rafi for his great contribution to India, after the legendary Lata. It is sad that the great singer will not be able to receive it personally if at all the award is given to him this year.

    DEAR RAFI FANS

BESIDE ” MAA BAHEN AUR BIWI ” AND ” HAZAR HAATH ” , SHARDAJI HAS GIVEN MUSIC DIRECTION FOR ANOTHER FILM CALLED ” MANDIR MASJID “.
IN THIS FILM, THERE IS AN EXCELLENT SONG OF RAFI SAHAB . THE SONG IS
A SAD TYPE AND CAN BE TREATED AS A COLLECTOR’S SONG !

    REGARDS/ A.T.M. SALIM.

Thanks a lot to mr.Imtiyaz A. Sharif and saleem bhai,

i thank you both for providing me with the knowledge regarding the song i have now come to know that it is from the movie “dard” and the beautiful composition was by khayyam sahib.

  16. Saleem says:

There is such a hot debate going on between groups one for Rafi and the other for KK. Its funny and fanatic at times as to have a tussle on these two greats. KK was a natural genius, he had spontanteous character whether he would sing, mimic, act, etc. Rafi on the other hand was a formally trained crooner, who could sing any song and carry it on his voice alone. For me the closest who could come to Rafi is none other than SP Balakrishna. perhaps the Hindi belt people dont know much about him but one should listen to him.

To Sum up please try this and find for yourself where the finer nuances of singing lies.

    1. If you want to sing Rafi’s tunes unless you emote closing your eyes and singing with your heart – you will not get there and KK’s even the most difficult songs it needs a little or no emotion try out a couple of them or I will help you out.

Rafi’s/ KK Simple melodies – Teri Pyaari Pyaari soorath ko kisi ki nazar na lage/ Tere bin soone – nayan hamaare

KK – Hawaaon pe likh do hawaaon ke naam – hum anjaan pardesion ka salaam/ Dekha hai zindagi ko – kuchh ithna qareeb se.

    You can evaluate them yourselves.

Mind you – this is without any prejudies or bias – they were both genius

  17. Saleem says:

    Hi Vikas

Ahle dil yoon bhi nibha lete hain – this song is perhaps sung by Lata and the music is by RD. I am close to getting the name of the movie. I think it is—— will post to you later. by the way my email is rabuma2003@yahoo.com. perhaps _ Agar thum Na hote if I am correct.

  18. Imtiyaz A. Sharif says:

Reg. post 53 of Mr. Vikas Sharma, the song “ahle dil yoon bhi nibha lete hain, dard seene mein chhupa lete hain”. This is the title song of film “Dard” and the beautiful composition is made by Khayyam Sahab.
