indeed rafi sahab was a jewel of india, he is immortal in the heart of thousand of millions of indians across the globe. rafi sahab must be conferred with the highest civilian award ‘bharat ratna’ for his passionate love for his country and countrymen. it is interesting to note that while rafi saab used to sing in normal stature (standing or sitting in a comfortable posture) but his songs reveal that he would have done so with so much acting or lmoving his body while he sang a particular song. i salute him from the core of my heart.

rafi died too young.there is no question of comparing him to any other human being. he was god’s gift to this world and every man, woman and child should know that. we feel privelaged to have been alive when he was in this world. thank god.

The article is definitely worth reading , but according to me , almost every one who talks about Rafi’s classical songs , they just forget two incredibly magnificient songs sung by him. One is ‘Baat chalat nai chunri’ and the other is ‘Rum jhum ke bajao’ , both with Pandith Krshna Rao Chonkar. I request all Rafi adorers to listen to these songs and make others also listen.

In these songs Rafi , subtly controls your breathing intervals and heart beats!!

Naushad was not a guru of Rafi. he never trained rafi although rafi was his most fav singer
Rafi is a guru of all.
Naushad used Mukesh in Saathi, well he also used mukesh in also other films like Andaz and mela. 68-69: rafi was very very busy.
Sagina – md was sdburman and not naushad and kishores voice of dilip kumar – a mockery of the upteenth orddr.

as we know that naushadji and rafi were guru-shishya then can anybody explain why naushad used mukesh in sathi and kishor in sagina even rajinder-rafi and dilipkumar-rafi combo is famous.

All rafi lovers must listen the song from film Amar Raaj(1946)which had music of late Firoz Nizami.The classical number”Mai jab gaaun geet suhana gaye mere saath jamana” had lyrics by Pt.Fani.I request those who know about classical music to mention name of raga on which the said song is based.

What an article, brilliant. Just like ti add Mana dada once said that although he was considered an expert in classical songs, Rafi Sahab had the rare quality where he could song any classical song with ease and flare and it would appear more sweet and more relevant for the listeners.

OP Nayar said of the duet Ti he mera prem devta that during the recording dada was struggling whereas Rafi sahab nailed the song in the first take.
