Rafi Sahab is remembered all over the world on his birth anniversary on 24th December, 2021. He had remained an inspiration for numerous singers all over the world. While he received filmfare for best male playback singer 6 times, there were many more songs in which he deserved the filmfare award.

Dev Saab sang these words in a movie called ASLI NAQLI.  The lines were Pyaar Ka Saaz Bhi Hai….Dil ki Aawaaz bhi hai……And I actually thought that it was that tall, not so dark but very  handsome and charming young man in a dark suit with a champagne glass in his hand, smiling and flirting away as he sang these lines to further say Chheda mere dil ne taraane tere pyaar ka in the film Asli Naqli. This was perhaps one of those oft- recurring dreams…..

I sat, thinking to myself – “Lagta nahin hai dil mera Ujade dayar mein”.  I was missing my idol, my God, the great soul whose voice had taken total possession of me from the evening that I slipped on the rain drenched patch of road outside a theatre in Chennai, as I came out after watching a tall and handsome young man call out “Khoya Khoya chaand”.
